Happy Diamonds danced their very first steps at Chopard in 1976 and since the very beginning this collection has become a true signature of Chopard.
\nThe birth of happy diamonds has a lot to do with the interplay between light and water. Ronald Kurowski a designer at Chopard was fascinated by the glittering reflection of sunbeams on a waterfall in the Blackforest. He wanted to recreate that natural wonder by allowing the diamonds to move freely between two sapphire crystals. When Karen Scheufele saw this she remarked that, \u201cthese diamonds are happiest when they are free\u201d and this is how the name \u2018Happy Diamonds\u2019 came about.
\nEven though the first happy diamonds were in Chopard watches, in 1985 those diamonds made their debut in the world of jewelry thanks to Caroline Scheufele, who is now the Co-President and Artistic Director of the Maison Chopard. Caroline masterfully designed a clown with a belly full of happy diamonds. She had initially designed that piece as a one-off for her personal collection but that piece gained so much popularity that it gave Chopard its first solid step into the world of jewelry.
\nHappy diamonds grew from one success to the next and became a true mark of Chopard\u2019s creativity. Over the years we have witnessed these free roaming diamonds in the Happy Sport, happy fish, happy spirit, Very Chopard, and of course the extremely popular happy hearts collection.
