The name Bhupindar Sing is carved in Boucheron’s unforgettable memory. On August 2nd 1928, the 6ft 7 Maharajah of Patiala pushed the door of the Maison in Place Vendôme and commissioned the largest special order in the history of the brand. Thousands of diamonds, rubies, emeralds and pearls for 149 imagined designs by Louis Boucheron turned into emerald and diamond collars, multiple-strand pearl necklaces, belts covered in precious stones and other designs. This year the creative director Claire Choisne pays homage to the 1928 fairytale treasure by reimagining a contemporary version of audacious and modern free style. The New Maharajahs collection consists of emblematic elements of India like the lotus flower, turban ornaments or wedding bracelets, with white and transparency dominance, instead of the original polychrome. Colors have faded into a monochrome metamorphosis to engrave a contemporary vision of the well curated version of Boucheron’s high jewelry collection that comprises breathtaking parures, earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces that turn into brooches, hoops, monochrome chokers as well as turban hair jewels. Lightening up the pieces without altering their beauty, the collection stands out by its remarkable extravagance that’s amplified by a modern touch without the weight of history.
