Boucheron New Maharajahs

Histoire De Style, an expression of elegant audacity

The name Bhupindar Sing is carved in Boucheron’s unforgettable memory. On August 2nd 1928, the 6ft 7 Maharajah of Patiala pushed the door of the Maison in Place Vendôme and commissioned the largest special order in the history of the brand. Thousands of diamonds, rubies, emeralds and pearls for 149 imagined designs by Louis Boucheron turned into emerald and diamond collars, multiple-strand pearl necklaces, belts covered in precious stones and other designs. This year the creative director Claire Choisne pays homage to the 1928 fairytale treasure by reimagining a contemporary version of audacious and modern free style. The New Maharajahs collection consists of emblematic elements of India like the lotus flower, turban ornaments or wedding bracelets, with white and transparency dominance, instead of the original polychrome. Colors have faded into a monochrome metamorphosis to engrave a contemporary vision of the well curated version of Boucheron’s high jewelry collection that comprises breathtaking parures, earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces that turn into brooches, hoops, monochrome chokers as well as turban hair jewels. Lightening up the pieces without altering their beauty, the collection stands out by its remarkable extravagance that’s amplified by a modern touch without the weight of history.

Gucci Tiger

A feline tribute to nature and beauty

Gearing up for the Chinese year of the Tiger which begins on February 1st, Gucci introduces a mesmerizing 80 piece collection of ready-to-wear and accessories, for both men and women. An archival design originated by Vittorio Accornero in late 1960s, the Tiger motif was revived by Alessandro Michele, upon joining the house in 2015 as its creative director. The print appears in a subtle inclusion in the lining of a trench coat, as well as a tiger and ‘Gucci Tiger’ wording in patch form on jackets, jeans, and knitwear with a maxi multicolor monogram, interlocking G or the equestrian-inspired web stripe. On some pieces the tiger is painted by hand or patch crafted with artisanal crochet and embroidery. The same styles are seen on shoes and bags combined with GG monogram. On a special note, the watches are 100% eco-friendly starting from the recycled steel case to the dial and strap, made from sustainable, renewable and bio-based raw materials. The campaign features a real tiger joining a group of friends for high tea in a luxurious retro-style hotel. The one century old Italian brand that turned carbon neutral since 2018, continues its ongoing support towards nature through initiatives aiming to protect forests, biodiversity and renewable energy, demonstrating its love for nature as one of its main source of inspiration.

It all started in the early years of last century, in a mesmerizing rose garden at villa Les Rhumbs in Granville, nurtured by Madeleine, his mother, a little child happily gazing at the Normandy coastal view of his family home that turned into the only ‘musée de France’ dedicated to a couturier, commemorating Christian Dior’s main source of inspiration and the crucial impact of his childhood roses on his legendary vision and work.
Dior Joaillerie dreamed up by the creative director Victoire De Castellane pays tribute to the designer’s favorite flower with its reinterpreted blooms, buds, stems and even thorns to honor its wholeness in the most majestic and figurative way.
After Bois de Rose, Rose Dior Bagatelle and Rose Dior Pré Catelan lines, a fourth flower of the dreamy jewelry garden emerges with the freshness of a burgeoning bud, Rose Dior Couture. Pluralistic duality and soft elegance, the new line is home to nine pieces that include necklaces, stud earrings and rings in rose gold and diamonds inspired by Bois de Rose collection.
« I can’t get attached to something that dies so quickly, so I make flowers that last forever » one of Castellane’s famous quotes that makes Dior’s emblematic rose and heritage as timeless and joyful as the Granville days.
