The second you say Jaeger Le Coultre the word Reverso comes to mind.
The story of Reverso began in 1931. Reverso was actually designed to solve a challenge to create a watch for British Army Officers in who wanted to play polo but also wanted their watch protected from possible mallet hits during a match.
Jaeger Le Coultre rose to that challenge and created a timepiece whereby you can protect the dial by simply reversing the case. A simple solution to a pressing problem.
The design itself was very much in line with the times, as it was Art Deco inspired with a rectangular shape and Arabic numerals.
Jaeger La Coultre also created ladies reversos from the onset of the design as the brand knew these subtle timepieces would be popular with the female clientele.
Whats cool about reverso is that you always have a surprise when you reverse the watch dial. You can either have a plain canvas which you can engrave and personalize to your liking or in the case of the Duoface and Duetto models a second face can show you another side of the globe or transform the watch from a day time to an evening piece.
My favorite reversos however are the ones that have a complication. Over the years we have seen reversos that house minute repeaters, tourbillons, perpetual calendars and chronographs.
